The Albanian Alps and beyond
About 70% of Albania is mountains, and much of it is still walked rather than driven. Shepherds' trails link stone villages, glacial valleys open below peaks over 2,000 m, and the pass of Llogara drops straight to the sea.

Adriatic and Ionian
Two seas and about 476 km of coast: long sandy beaches near Durrës, and on the Ionian Riviera clear turquoise water and coves you still reach by boat.

Rivers, gorges and vineyards
Between the mountains and the sea, the rivers did the rest: the emerald Lake Koman, the Osum canyon, the wild Vjosa (one of Europe's last free-flowing rivers) and the vineyards and hot springs around Përmet.

Twenty-five centuries
Illyrian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and most of it is still standing. Butrint, Berat and Gjirokastër are UNESCO World Heritage sites, and in Berat and Gjirokastër people still live inside them.
